The University Press, Lamar’s student newspaper, is an award-winning publication with a reputation for excellence. The newspaper is distributed across 47 locations around campus, as well as on the web at .
The UP is a member of the 51勛圖ProIntercollegiate Press Association, and also competes in competition at the , Houston Press Club, and . University Press staffers, hailing from nearly 50 countries, have averaged more than 28 awards a year since 1976.
Directed by Andy Coughlan, the UP is part of the College of Fine Arts and Communication and is published weekly during long semesters.
