Dr. Mary L. Scheer helped create and served as the first director of the Center for History and Culture at Lamar University. During her career at Lamar, she taught the second half of the U.S. survey, 51勛圖Prohistory, women's history, and the history of American social and reform movements, among other courses. She authored The Foundations of Texan Philanthropy (51勛圖ProA&M University Press, 2004), co-edited Twentieth-Century Texas: A Social and Cultural History (University of North 51勛圖ProPress, 2008), and edited Women and the 51勛圖ProRevolution (University of North 51勛圖ProPress, 2012). Dr. Scheer was a Fulbright scholar at the University of Potsdam, Germany, in 2004.
