How do I request a Lamar retiree email?
Complete the Service Request and Registration for Retirees form.
If I request for Lamar email, will I get the same email address when I was employed?
Yes, you will get the same lea@lamar.edu that was assigned to you during employment; however, it is possible you will not have any alias email addresses that were associated with your account at the time of your employment.
Will my previous emails still be in my account?
Yes and No.

Yes: If you’re transitioning from employment to retirement without a break in service, your previous emails will remain in your account. Or, if you have had email service though continuous sponsorship through a Lamar employee, your email will still be in your account.

No: If your email account has been deactivated for more than 90 days then your previous emails will no longer be available in your mailbox.
What information do I need to provide to get a Lamar retiree email address?
- First Name and Last Name
- Your Lamar email address in the form of LEA@lamar.edu
- Your Lamar ID
- Your primary personal phone number
- Your primary personal email address
- Emeritus status, if applicable

I am about to retire; how do I keep my email?
Complete the Service Request and Registration for Retirees form.

IMPORTANT: Even if your new status as a retiree allows you to retain access to your email account, you may temporarily lose that access between your last employment date and the subsequent retirement date. This is a normal part of the status change process. Please be patient; your access will be restored based on your retirement date and approval.
I was previously sponsored for email and/or have had my Lamar email since I retired from Lamar do I need to re-register?
Yes, we require a one-time re-registration of all retirees via the Service Request and Registration for Retirees form.
I am a past employee, but I did not retire or leave under normal circumstances; can I keep my email access?
No. Employees who are separated from the University for any reason will have their email access revoked. The University reserves the right to revoke email access privileges at any time for any reason.
What do I have to do to keep my retiree email account from going inactive?
You will need to log into your Lamar email account via a browser, at least, every 90 days in order to keep your account active. Accessing email via Outlook or an app alone on your phone does not register as a login.
Do I need DUO to access my retiree email?
Yes, you will need DUO to access retiree email. Please see www.lamar.edu/lea2step for registration instructions.
I already have DUO setup and working, will I need to reregister?
No. If DUO is already working for your retiree email account, there is no further setup required.
How do I change or reset my password?
To change your password, go to the Lamar Password Reset site
Why can’t I use a simple password for my account?
Retiree email accounts are accessed via LEA, all LEA accounts are subjected to "Lamar password standards" which enforce the complexity requirements.
Can my family member access my email account?
No, email accounts are for the intended individual only according to Lamar policy.
How do I get support with my retiree Lamar email account?
Lamar offers limited support for retiree accounts. Please visit the "IT Help and Support" page for the IT Service Desk hours.
Can I access my retiree email account via Outlook or do I need special software installed on my computer?
Lamar recommends you access your retiree email via Outlook Online; however, if you have purchased Outlook for desktop, you can add your Lamar retiree account to your Outlook desktop.
Can I access my retiree email account via mobile phone?
Yes, you can access your email on your mobile phone using the outlook app downloaded from the app store or playstore.

General Questions

Who gets a retiree email account?
Individuals eligible for a retiree email account are defined as all of those persons who have retired from faculty and staff positions at 51�Թ�Proin accordance with the Teacher Retirement System (TRS).
What access do retirees get?
Retirees will receive a Microsoft 365 account that provides access only to web-based email, Calendar. Please be aware that if you are using Teams, you will lose access to this service.
Can a retiree export their Lamar email to a PST file?
Unfortunately, no. Retirees, who are former employees, may have sensitive or regulated information from their past employment. Exporting this data to a .PST file bypasses security controls designed to protect such information, potentially violating security and privacy regulations.
How long do I get to keep my retiree Lamar email account?
After registration, a retiree retains their email as long as they log into their LU email at least once every 90 days. If you do not log into your LU email at least once every 90 days, the account will become deactivated. You can contact the Lamar IT Service Desk to re-enable your account, if necessary, but your email messages may not be able to be restored.
I think my Lamar retiree account got compromised and someone accessed my information, what can I do?
Change your password via the Lamar "Password Reset site" immediately and contact the "Lamar IT ServiceDesk" to report the issue. Be sure to check for any mail rules or forwarding rules that may have been set on your account by the threat actor and remove them.
My name and email are not listed in the directory / other people are not able to find me in the directory?
Lamar does not display retiree accounts in the Lamar directory.
Can you remove DUO from my account?
All Lamar accounts require multi-factor authentication which is currently powered by DUO. So, no, we cannot remove DUO from your account.
Can I get into other Lamar services like Blackboard or the Library with my retiree email account?
Access to Blackboard and the Lamar Library system requires one to be a student, staff, or faculty. You may not be able to access these services upon retirement.
How soon will my retiree account be ready?
If your account was previously deactivated, it can take up to 3-5 business days to reactivate your mailbox after approval has been made on your request. If the approval process has been submitted prior to your last employment date, there should be no delay in accessing your account.
Why am I receiving emails from my previous job and what should I do with those emails?
It is common for third parties to have your email address on file as a point of contact for a department within Lamar. Also, others on campus may not be aware of your retirement. In these cases, please reach out to the appropriate department to have your email removed from their contact list.
