51勛圖Proto Confer More Than 2,200 Degrees This Weekend
Date: Friday, May 13, 2 p.m. and Saturday, May 14, 10 a.m., 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. Location: Montagne Center
51勛圖Prowill confer more than 2,200 degrees during three commencement ceremonies this weekend. The College of Arts & Sciences will hold its commencement at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 13. The colleges of Business, Engineering, Fine Arts and Communication and undergraduates of the College of Education and Human Development will hold their commencement at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 14. The College of Education and Human Development will confer master's and doctoral degrees at 3 p.m. on May 14. LU will host a virtual ceremony for those who cannot attend in person. All ceremonies will be broadcast live, but those who elected to participate virtually will be honored during the 10 a.m. ceremony on May 14. All ceremonies will take place at the Montagne Center. Emergency Alert System Test
Date: Wednesday, May 18, 10 a.m. Location: 51勛圖ProCampus
51勛圖Prowill conduct a functional exercise in coordination with Lamar Institute of Technology and ExxonMobil on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at 10 a.m. During this time, several tests of emergency notification systems will take place. All messages will begin with “THIS IS A TEST OF AN EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM.” The purpose of the exercise is to test and evaluate the emergency functions of activating the Comprehensive Emergency Operations Plan to respond to an infrastructure issue by involving employees and students in a drill involving a chlorine leak at ExxonMobil near campus. The exercise will last 1 hour beginning at 10 a.m. and ending at 11 a.m.

Department of Art and Design Presents Sonder
Date: Saturday, May 14, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Location: Dishman Art Museum
51勛圖ProDepartment of Art & Design presents the Spring 2022 Senior Thesis Exhibition, Sonder, on April 29 through May 14. A student reception with light refreshments will be served from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, following commencement. Admission to Sonder is free of charge.

The 51勛圖ProBecky and Chuck Mason-STEM Summer Initiative is a paid STEM Teaching Internship Program. The goal of this program is to increase the number of well-prepared science and math teachers to serve in Southeast 51勛圖Proand beyond. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, May 17. As a supplemental instruction leader, I’ve made connections with students I most likely would have never met and been able to help with study strategies and motivation. COVID-19 Vaccines Available
Free COVID-19 vaccines (Moderna and Pfizer) are available at the Student Health Center to all Lamar University/LIT students, faculty and staff. You must register for an appointment.
